FTB partnered with Curse, which in turn was bought out by Twitch. FTB's old launcher was replaced by the launcher built into the Curse app. The features of the new launcher are generally better. The problems are that it doesn't have support for all operating systems and is bundled with the rest of the bloated social media/voice chat crap that Curse was developing. When Twitch bought out Curse, they relabeled the app to the Twitch app. Most modpacks can be downloaded from CurseForge and used in several other launchers. Use the Twitch app on both PC and Mac. The PC one seems to work normally but slower than the Curse app did. The Mac app fails updates every single time, which means re-downloading, re-copying from the DMG and then re-launching the app and waiting for it to see if there's a new version it can download and fail to upgrade with. Additionally, the Twitch app on the Mac has a different layout and it took me a while just to find out how to launch the packs I had already installed.
